Spectroscopic studies of the hydrogen bonded charge transfer complex of 2-aminopyridine with π-acceptor chloranilic acid in different polar solvents

► 2AP reacts instantly with CHA to form HBCT-complex in different polar solvent. ► The molecular composition of the complex was found to be 1:1. ► KCT of HBCT-complex recorded higher values in the different solvents. ► The solid HBCT-complex was isolated and characterized using infrared spectroscopy. ► The formed HBCT-complex was extra stabilized through bifurcated hydrogen bond.
