Volumetric, acoustic and spectroscopic studies for binary mixtures of ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate) with alkoxyalkanols at TÂ =Â (288.15 to 318.15) K

► Macroscopic and molecular level interactions of imidazolium ionic liquids in alkoxyalkanols have been determined. ► VE is negative over the whole composition range for all the investigated mixtures. ► ΔκS is negative over the whole composition range for all the investigated mixtures and is consistent with the VE results. ► Hydroxyl group interactions are prevailing between unlike components in mixtures of varying strengths. ► Microscopic level interactions are not reflected in the mixing macroscopic behavior.
