Excess molar volumes VmE and partial molar volumes V¯i at the temperatures 293.15 K, 298.15 K and 303.15 K and normal atmospheric pressure of binary systems of methylcyclohexane with n-pentane, n-hexane, n-heptane, n-octane, n-nonane and n-decane have been computed from density measurements. The calculated excess molar volumes, VmE, were correlated using Redlich-Kister polynomials and parameters from least-squares analysis have been reported. While the excess molar volumes are negative over the entire range of composition for the systems methylcyclohexane with n-pentane, n-hexane, n-heptane, those for n-octane, n-nonane and n-decane systems are positive over the entire range of composition of methylcyclohexane. From the results, the excess thermal expansivities at constant pressure, αE, were estimated. The Prigogine-Flory-Patterson (PFP) theory and its applicability in predicting VmE is tested.
