A classification of central nucleotides induced by the influence of neighboring nucleotides in triplets

Theoretical calculations on the 64 nucleotide triplets were carried out to analyze the possible differences in partial atomic charges of the central nucleotides influenced by neighboring nucleotides. From these calculations we selected the atoms that exhibit the major influence on their charges. They correspond to an homogeneous set whose partial charges have the highest variances due to the changes on nucleotide neighbors. We proposed an approach to classify nucleotide triplets in clusters that agree with the chemical nature of the central nucleotide and their neighbor nucleotides.
