Cancer du sein raté : apprendre de nos erreurs

Missed cancers are by definition cancers found after a previous imaging check up. They represent approximately a third of the interval cancers in the literature. Missed cancers can be caused not only by a detection error, but also because of a misleading interpretation. Errors of dectection can occur due to a lack of attention, lack of experience or simply because of an inconsistent technique. Misleading interpretations happen mostly for cancers presenting pseudobenign lesions or with slow evolution. The analysis of causes and characteristics for lesions non-diagnosed or non-detected properly by imaging may improve our practices for the detection of breast cancer.
