Clinical Predictors of Left Atrial Thrombus and Spontaneous Echocardiographic Contrast in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation

Age 75 years or older, previous thromboembolic event, and LVEF less than 40% predict presence of LA SEC. LVEF less than 40% is the only multivariate predictor of LAT. The prevalence of LA SEC and LAT increases with increasing CHADS2 score.
