Hepatoprotection of Graptopetalum paraguayense E. Walther on CCl4-induced liver damage and inflammation

Graptopetalum paraguayense E. Walther is an edible vegetable that has also been used in traditional Taiwanese folk medicine for blood pressure regulation and to alleviate hepatic disorders. However, hepatoprotection by Graptopetalum paraguayense E. Walther has not yet been rigorously established. In the present study, we have investigated the effects of Graptopetalum paraguayense E. Walther against inflammatory liver damage in an animal model, the CCl4-treated rat. The results of this study suggest that Graptopetalum paraguayense E. Walther shows promise for future development as a functional food.
