Facial emotion triggered cerebral potentials in treatment-resistant depression and borderline personality disorder patients of both genders

► We tried ERPs to facial expressions of emotion in TRD, BPD, and TRD + BPD patients. ► We found no group difference of ERP morphologies to facial expressions of emotion. ► TRD patients reacted more slowly to Anger, Happiness, and Sadness. ► TRD + BPD patients reacted more slowly to Anger and Happiness. ► Depression was positively correlated with P2 latency to Anger in TRD + BPD patients.
