J7, a methyl jasmonate derivative, enhances TRAIL-mediated apoptosis through up-regulation of reactive oxygen species generation in human hepatoma HepG2 cells

► The effects of J7, a methyl jasmonate derivative, on TRAIL-mediated apoptosis were determined. ► Co-treatment with J7 and TRAIL markedly induced Bid cleavage and activated caspases. ► J7 enhanced TRAIL-induced apoptosis via ROS-dependent in TRAIL-resistant HepG2 cells.
