Assessment of the cytotoxicity of aluminium oxide nanoparticles on selected mammalian cells

► We investigated the cytotoxicity of Al2O3 nanoparticles on mammalian cells. ► Al2O3 suspensions were classified as unstable. ► We assessed cell viability, apoptosis induction and nanoparticles internalization. ► There was no significant increase in apoptosis or decrease in cell viability. ► Al2O3 nanoparticles can penetrate through the cells membrane.
