Genome-wide analysis of hepatic gene silencing in hepatoma cell variants

► Whole genome profiling of rat hepatoma and hepatoma variant cells was conducted. ► Over 200 genes are repressed greater than 5-fold in the hepatoma variant cells. ► Repressed genes include many transcription factors. ► Reintroduction of HNF1a into variant cells results in activation of 56 genes. ► Dramatic yet partially reversible reprogramming occurs in the variant cells.
