In vitro & in vivo correlation of release behavior of andrographolide from silica and PEG assisted silica gel matrix

- Higher PEG percentage decreases surface area while increases average pore diameter.
- The in vitro drug release was found to be biphasic (initial burst followed by slow release).
- Increasing percentage of PEG facilitates higher release and availability of the molecule in blood.
- The drug release profile establishes Level A in vitro-in vivo correlation.
- No degenerative histological changes associated with silica carriers are found.
