- Increases in the polyols' hydroxyl groups leads to an increase in tablet strength
- Increases in the polyols' hydroxyl groups maybe responsible for the decrease in the drug release rates.
- Maltitol was resilient in the presence of ethanol (5-40% v/v) at pH 1.2
- Ehanol concentrations as high as 40% (v/v), did not substantially alter drug release properties of theophylline from maltitol matrix tablets.
- Of all polyols studied, maltitol was the most resilient
