Long-term neurological outcome in children with early-onset epilepsy associated with tuberous sclerosis

► In tuberous sclerosis complex, an increased risk of developing epilepsy is present very early in life. ► Today the diagnosis of tuberous sclerosis complex can be made before seizure onset. ► In this retrospective study, 23 subjects received early treatment with vigabatrin. ► Early seizure control in children with tuberous sclerosis complex could prevent epileptic encephalopathy. ► Seizure cessation is associated with improvement in behavioral and cognitive long-term outcome.
