The synaptic protein encoded by the gene Slc10A4 suppresses epileptiform activity and regulates sensitivity to cholinergic chemoconvulsants

► Slc10a4 is a presynaptic protein of unknown function in cholinergic terminals. ► Slc10a4 KO mice show spontaneous gamma activity in vitro and epileptic spikes in vivo. ► Slc10a4 KO mice are more sensitive to cholinergic chemoconvulsants. ► We conclude that Slc10a4 regulates the sensitivity to cholinergic stimulus. ► Slc10a4 also seems to suppress epileptiform activity.
