Neuregulin-1/ErbB4 signaling controls the migration of oligodendrocyte precursor cells during development

► Neuregulin-1 chemoattracts migrating OPCs during embryonic development. ► This effect is mediated by the ErbB4 receptor which is expressed by OPCs. ► Neuregulin-1 has no effect on migrating PDGFRα+-OPCs, at postnatal stages. ► ErbB4 knockout mice show a diminished migrating OPCs at embryonic stages. ► Neuregulin-1 increases OPC differentiation towards mature oligodendrocytes.
