LRRK2 expression is enriched in the striosomal compartment of mouse striatum

► A verified LRRK2 antibody detects widespread expression in mouse brain by IHC. ► LRRK2 expression is highest in striatum and mainly expressed in medium spiny neurons. ► LRRK2 expression is enriched in striatal patches termed striosomes. ► Loss of LRRK2 expression does not affect striatal compartmentalization. ► Striatal compartmentalization in LRRK2-R1441G transgenic mice is disturbed.
