Efficacy of the lipid-soluble iron chelator 2,2′-dipyridyl against hemorrhagic brain injury

► We examined the efficacy of 2, 2′-dipyridyl after ICH in 12-month-old mice. ► Pretreatment decreased iron deposition and gray and white matter injury. ► Post-treatment reduced brain lesion volume and edema, improved neurologic function. ► Lipid-soluble iron chelator 2,2′-dipyridyl could protect brain against ICH injury.
