Rescue of neurons from undergoing hallmark tau-induced Alzheimer's disease cell pathologies by the antimitotic drug paclitaxel

► Mutant tau leads to Alzheimer's disease cellular pathologies in Aplysia neurons. ► Pathological changes are prevented by incubation of neurons in 10 nM paclitaxel. ► 100 nM paclitaxel does not ameliorate the pathological changes, and facilitate them. ► Paclitaxel can prevent the pathology but not reverse it once it started.
