Prevalence of Chagas disease in pregnant women and incidence of congenital transmission in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia

► We carried out an immunological screening of Chagas disease in 15,767 pregnant women. ► We have shown that 23.6% of pregnant women were infected by Trypanosoma cruzi. ► We concluded that annual incidence of congenital Chagas disease was 595 per 100,000 births. ► We observed a significant difference between hospitals due to their recruitment.
