Genotyping of sand fly species in Peruvian Andes where leishmaniasis is endemic

► Genotyping of sand fly species circulating in Peru was established. ► The genotyping successfully differentiated sand fly species from 24 endemic areas. ► The usability of the method was verified by large-scale surveillance. ► The present method will be a powerful tool for sand fly surveillance in Peru.
