Molecular genotyping of Echinococcus granulosus in animal and human isolates from Egypt

► G1 genotype PCR revealed G1genotype in one (3.2%) out of 31 human isolates. ► G6 genotype PCR revealed G6 genotype in 30 (96.8%) out of 31 human isolates. ► G6 genotype PCR revealed G6 genotype in all (100%) the animal isolates. ► DNA sequencing for mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene identified the G6 genotype (GenBank ID: GQ476732-GQ476735). ► Both G1 and G6 strains are found in Egypt with the alternation of predominance between both of them.
