Large differences in prevalence of Pfcrt and Pfmdr1 mutations between Mwanza, Tanzania and Iganga, Uganda-A reflection of differences in policies regarding withdrawal of chloroquine?

► Uganda and Tanzania has since 2001 stopped using chloroquine against malaria. ► Mutations in resistance genes pfcrt and pfmdr1 was more common in Uganda. ► This could indicate differences in actual drug use following drug policy changes.
