► Toxoplasma IgG seropositivity rate of 67.5% is revealed among pregnant women in Menoufia governorate, Egypt. ► We determined the rate of Toxoplasma gondii infection in pregnant women in Menoufia governorate. ► Toxoplasma IgG seropositivity rate of 67.5% was revealed. ► Prevalence of chronic Toxoplasma infection (IgG+/IgM−) was 64.7%. ► There is an increasing rate for toxoplasmosis over the past 20 years. ► This prevalence is high compared to other global rates.
