In vitro and in vivo trypanocidal activity of some benzimidazole derivatives against two strains of Trypanosoma cruzi

► Benzimidazole derivatives were assayed in two Mexican strains of Trypanosoma cruzi. ► Compound 1 showed higher trypanocidal activity than reference drugs. ► These Mexican strains had low sensitivity to nifurtimox and benznidazole. ► Benzimidazole derivatives showed low cytotoxicity against Vero cells.
