Recombinant envelope protein-based enzyme immunoassay for IgG antibodies is comparable to neutralization tests for epidemiological studies of dengue infection

► Dengue virus recombinant envelope (E) proteins were produced in E. coli. ► IgG immunoenzymatic assay was developed using the recombinant antigens. ► The assay shows comparable results to the neutralization test (PRNT). ► PRNT may be replaced by IgG-ELISA for serological surveys of dengue.
