Enhanced immunogenicity induced by an alphavirus replicon-based pseudotyped baculovirus vaccine against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus

► Alphavirus replicon-based baculovirus vaccine (BV-SFV-5m6) was constructed. ► BV-SFV-5m6 highly expressed GP5m and M proteins in the transduced mammalian cells. ► BV-SFV-5m6 induced apoptosis in the transduced mammalian cells. ► In a mouse model, BV-SFV-5m6 elicited high level of antibody response against PRRSV. ► Vaccination with BV-SFV-5m6 induced strong Th1-dominant cellular immune response.
