Simultaneous detection, typing and quantitation of oncogenic human papillomavirus by multiplex consensus real-time PCR

► A real-time PCR test for oncogenic human papillomavirus is has been developed. ► The test targets 13 papillomavirus types associated with cervical cancer. ► The test uses consensus primers and 3-4 multiplexed probes. ► Detection, typing and quantitation occur simultaneously in a closed system format. ► The test has 98% sensitivity and 83% specificity relative to the HC2 test.
