Cytoplasmic localized infected cell protein 0 (bICP0) encoded by bovine herpesvirus 1 inhibits β interferon promoter activity and reduces IRF3 (interferon response factor 3) protein levels

► We found that cytoplasmic localized bICP0 induces degradation of IRF3. ► Cytoplasmic localized bICP0 also inhibited bovine beta-interferon promoters. ► A viral encoded or induced function promotes shuttling of bICP0 from cytoplasm to nucleus during productive infection.
