Design, optimization, and control of reactive distillation column for the synthesis of tert-amyl ethyl ether

► A convenient tool - Aspen Split was adopted to obtain the column parameters. ► The procedure was proposed to obtain the design parameters and sensitive variables. ► The procedure was performed without requirement to run various simulations. ► The temperature-composition cascade strategy was proposed to control the system. ► It was proved that the proposed strategy was the effective control structure.
