NMDA receptor/amyloid precursor protein interactions: A comparison between wild-type and amyloid precursor protein mutations associated with familial Alzheimer's disease

► APP is known to associate with NMDA neurotransmitter receptors. ► APP mutations causative for familial early onset Alzheimer's disease were generated. ► Mutated APPs behaved as wild-type APP in terms of association with NMDA receptors. ► Mutated APPs promoted cell surface trafficking of NR1/NR2A and NR1/NR2B subtypes.
