Antibacterial and antifungal activities of polyketide metabolite from marine Streptomyces sp. AP-123 and its cytotoxic effect

► New antimicrobial metabolite producing Streptomyces sp. AP-123 has been isolated from marine sediment. ► IR, 13C NMR and 1H NMR spectral data revealed that the antimicrobial metabolite was polyketide in nature. ► The purified metabolite exhibited significant activity against pathogenic bacteria and fungi.
