Role of electrode materials for the anodic oxidation of a real landfill leachate - Comparison between Ti-Ru-Sn ternary oxide, PbO2 and boron-doped diamond anode

► Electrocatalytic activity of different anodes was studied for the oxidation of landfill leachate. ► TiRuSnO2 anode yields only partial COD and ammonium removal. ► BDD enables complete COD, colour and ammonium removal. ► The degradation of pollutants was ascribed to the synergetic effect of direct and indirect electrolysis.
