Glucuronidation of hydroxylated polybrominated diphenyl ethers and their modulation of estrogen UDP-glucuronosyltransferases

► Bromination degree played the most important role in OH-PBDEs glucuronidation. ► OH-PBDEs modulated E2-UGTs activity depending on different Br substitution patterns. ► OH-PBDEs inhibited E2 glucuronidation in a noncompetitive mode. ► Perturbation of E2 metabolism by OH-PBDEs may exert an indirect estrogenic effect.
