Polybrominated diphenyl ethers in sewage sludge from Shanghai, China: Possible ecological risk applied to agricultural land

► PBDEs were ubiquitous in sewage sludge from Shanghai, and BDE-209 was the highest in the globe. ► Sewage sludge could be a main source of PBDEs in the environment through agricultural application. ► More studies are needed on PBDEs in sludge despite of much low risk for soil organisms currently.
