Estrogenic and androgenic activities in total plasma measured with reporter-gene bioassays: Relevant exposure measures for endocrine disruptors in epidemiologic studies?

► CALUX® can be used to measure estrogenic (EEQs) and androgenic (AEQs) activities in total plasma. ► Plasma EEQs and AEQs may provide biologically relevant summary measures for exposure to EDs. ► We detected associations between several sources of EDs and plasma EEQs and AEQs among men. ► These findings support the use of CALUX® technology in epidemiologic studies.
