Chemical composition of rainwater at a coastal town on the southwest of Europe: What changes in 20Â years?

► Changes in Aveiro rainwater inorganics were assessed between 2008-2009 and 1986-1989. ► The concentrations of H+ were in the same range as twenty years ago. ► NH4+ and NSS-SO42− were lower in 1986-1989 than those observed in 2008-2009. ► An increase in NO3− concentrations was observed in 2008-2009 relatively to 1986-1989. ► An important contribution of local sources is suggested for NH4+, NO3− and NSS-SO42−.
