Development of a bioreactor for remediation of textile effluent and dye mixture: A plant-bacterial synergistic strategy

► Natural synergism of Glandularia pulchella and Pseudomonas monteilii was observed for dye decolorization. ► Consortium was found to be more efficient than individual plant and bacteria. ► Plant, bacteria and consortium showed differential fate of metabolism of Scarlet RR. ► Synergism could be used in a constructed reactor for treating real textile effluents. ► Consortial reactor performed better removal of dye, TOC, COD and BOD from effluent.
