Separation and enrichment of burdock leaf components and their inhibition activity on biofilm formation of E. coli

► The effect of burdock leaf components on biofilm formation hasn't been studied. ► Chromatography separation significantly improved activity of burdock leaf fractions. ► 4 ethanol elution fractions significantly inhibited biofilm formation with low IC50. ► SEM observation conformed the inhibition effect of fractions on biofilm formation. ► The obtained fractions provide new alternatives for control of biofilms.
