Enhanced secretion of biologically active, non-glycosylated VEGF from Saccharomyces cerevisiae

► We successfully secreted non-glycosylated, active human VEGF from S. cerevisiae. ► The pre region alone is better than the entire MFα prepro peptide for VEGF secretion. ► Lys or glu at the glycosylation site increased non-glycosylated VEGF secretion.
