Effect of hypothermic temperatures on production of rabies virus glycoprotein by recombinant Drosophila melanogaster S2 cells cultured in suspension

► Effect of hypothermic culture on glycoprotein production by rS2 cell was investigated. ► Suspension cultures with SF-900 II medium in batch and fed-batch were carried out. ► SF-900 II medium presented stoichiometrically limiting aminoacids for rS2 culture. ► Hypothermic culture caused lower cell growth and enhanced glycoprotein production. ► Hypothermic fed batch culture led to the highest productivity of glycoprotein.
