Differences in water use between mature and post-fire regrowth stands of subalpine Eucalyptus delegatensis R. Baker

► We compare water use in mature and post-fire regrowth Eucalyptus delegatensis. ► Regrowth stands used 2.2 times more water than mature stands 7 years after fire. ► This reflected greater LAI (by 35%), transpiration (61%) and conductance (140%). ► Photosynthetic capacity and midday leaf water potential did not differ with age. ► VPD drove stand water use, whereas soil moisture had little influence.
