In this study, the release of organic and inorganic species during high-temperature thermochemical conversion of PVC-condensate was determined online by Molecular beam Mass Spectrometry. The lab-scale experiments were conducted at 1000-1400 °C with an oxygen content reaching from 0 to 30 vol.%. The organic species under investigation were 51C4H3+, 52C4H4+, 53C4H5+, 77C6H5+, and 78C6H6+. The inorganic species under investigation were 36HCl+, 58NaCl+, 39NaO+, 60COS+, and 56Fe+. This investigation showed for the first time that organics can be effectively destroyed even in an oxygen depleted atmosphere at 1400 °C. Furthermore, the release of chlorine, sulphur, and alkaline species is shown to be less temperature sensitive than oxygen sensitive in the temperature range of 1000-1400 °C.
