Monohydrogen phosphate selective electrode based on a synthetic hydrotalcite

► An ISE for monohydrogen phosphate, using the coated-wire configuration, was developed. ► The membrane was based on a dispersion of Mg-Al-HPO4 hydrotalcite-like compound particles into polyvinyl butyral. ► The ISE displayed reasonably good selectivity for monohydrogen phosphate over the most common anions. ► Phosphate determination in hydroxyapatite samples was successfully performed.
