The sorption of pentachlorophenol by aged sediment supplemented with black carbon produced from rice straw and fly ash

► We studied the effects of aging on the sorptivity of rice straw biochar and fly ash. ► Increasing the aging periods and temperature reduced their sorptivity. ► Rice straw biochar's sorptivity was greater than fly ash's, regardless aged or not. ► Rice straw biochar is a good functional material for controlling organic pollutants.
