Comparison of the results of response surface methodology and artificial neural network for the biosorption of lead using black cumin

► RSM and ANN models were used for analyzing and optimizing of the biosorption process. ► ANN had better prediction capability than RSM for adsorbed amounts of lead from aqueous solution. ► Black cumin as biosorbent was firstly investigated for removal of lead ions from aqueous solutions. ► Biosorbent mass was the most significant factors that affect the removal of lead. ► Black cumin can effectively be used for the removal of lead ions as a potential biosorbent.
