CO2 supplementation to domestic wastewater enhances microalgae lipid accumulation under mixotrophic microenvironment: Effect of sparging period and interval

► Influence of CO2 supplementation to domestic wastewater was studied on the growth and lipid accumulation of mixotrophically grown microalgae. ► Lipid productivity was evaluated during sequential integration of growth and starvation phases. ► Sparging period and interval showed marked influence on microalgae growth and lipid productivity. ► Distinctions in total chlorophyll components was elucidated with respect to experimental variations. ► Fatty acid compositional changes with respect to CO2 supplementation were discussed.
