The recycling of oyster shells: An environmental analysis using Life Cycle Assessment

► Oyster shells have great potential as raw material due to their high CaCO3 content. ► We assessed the environmental consequences of recycling oyster shells using LCA. ► Shell recycling had a lower environmental impact than landfill disposal. ► A greater impact was found when the recycling facility was more than 323 km away.
