Application of high-performance liquid chromatography with charged aerosol detection for universal quantitation of undeclared phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors in herbal dietary supplements

- Determination of PDE-5 inhibitors and analogues without standards was presented.
- The error of proposed indirect determination was found to be ±3%.
- The method was applied for analyses of 22 illicit supplements and 2 herbal powders.
- Quantities of PDE-5 inhibitors in all tested samples are pharmacologically relevant.
- The presence of counterfeit supplements in the legal distribution was detected.
