Development of an ionic liquid-based dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction method for the determination of nifurtimox and benznidazole in human plasma

► An analytical procedure for the determination of two antichagasic drugs in plasma was proposed. ► Procedure yielded a significant improvement over those reported in the literature. ► Performance of the methodology was very satisfactory and requires very low amount of sample. ► Technique is according to requirements in clinical research or therapeutic monitoring.
